I find it quite insulting that after all these years, (Centuries) that the Native American People are still lokeod upon as savages and portrayed as such in a cartoon. If anything, I know them to be a very loving Nation and one who respect our Nation, and Mother Earth more than than most people in these United States. We would do a great service to ourselves to learn from their example.

It's not magic, it's more like reiatly. The reiatly of your environment and situations and genes. If you have your earlier needs met - Maslow's Deficiency needs - then you naturally become more interested and capable of the his Being needs. And each time you get your higher needs met, you move up even higher in your interests and abilities. So the self-actualized stage is the result of getting all of the earlier needs met, which leads to one being proactive, passionate, co-creative, etc. But at all the levels there is a motivation to get one's needs met. Maslow didn't know precisely what those needs were, specifically, beyond the first stage or two, but he guessed pretty well, and described what it was like to be at those later stages, such as being "self-actualized". And now, 50 years later, some of us have continued his work, and we have a pretty good idea of what those needs are at every level Maslow noticed, and far beyond those levels! Which is fantastic, as it's a recipe for helping even more people move up to the transcendent stages. The hierarchy is essentially the same thing as a child learning to walk. Walking isn't a need in and of itself (and some people never end up being able to do it, for a variety of reasons), but Walking can be described as a level of the physical hierarchy of growth, and the needs we have for the Walking stage begin with first having met the needs of the previous levels (something like: having the energy and mass and coordination and freedom to sit up, having the energy and mass and coordination and freedom to be able to crawl, having the energy and mass and coordination and freedom to stand up, and so on). Only then will the kid be able to and motivated to want to walk, and for them to be successful, the the Walking level needs must be met, as well as all the previous needs. The Walking level needs would be something like: energy, mass, coordination, and freedom. So walking is a result of getting the walking needs met. It's not a need itself, though. Just as self-actualization is a result of having the self-actualization needs met, and not a need itself. And what are the needs for the Self-Actualization level? Well, the specific needs at that level are being free to express oneself physically (output solids, liquids, gasses, plasma, and pure sensory energy), being with close friends/family who find one's physical outputs useful and healthy, and being part of a larger world (culture/society) that finds one's physical outputs useful and healthy. Of course, before one gets to this stage of needs, one has to meet all the other earlier needs for input and output (which you can see in my binary stages diagram, I linked to initially). Maslow really started something utterly amazing, and the more people continue to work on the idea of what we humans need to develop healthfully and really thrive, the more accurate and useful the theory becomes.
